Sister Feature: Wild Fig Yoga

Sister Feature: Wild Fig Yoga

Hey there, Sisters!

It is the month of March, and in honour of International Womens’ Day, The Sister Collective team is super excited to feature a group who we believe share our heart on community, wellness and supporting sisters: Wild Fig Yoga (WFY)! We always love when we find a community of loving, like-minded, and supportive sisters and we’ve found that with WFY. Let’s meet Wild Fig Yoga!

Introductions!

WFY: Wild Fig Yoga is a five-woman team, including founder & co-founder Tingyu and Hayley, who trained together at Yoga Mala Singapore, as well as our team of amazing instructors, Clarissa, Vanessa and Anna. Each instructor on our teaching team brings a different energy to our sessions, and we’d love for you to experience their sessions for yourself.

Why did WFY start?

WFY: From early on, the founding team was deliberate in moving away from the established concept of yoga within studio spaces. At WFY, practitioners experience mindfulness differently, through curated experiences at beaches and gardens amidst sun, sea and greenery. You’ll find us weaving in nature cues in our session and inviting you to slow down and take time to listen to the birds, waves, and wind.

We hope to allow practitioners space to reconnect with nature and draw back to the core of what it means to be human – allowing authenticity, reflection, curiosity, playfulness, joy, awe and beauty to bloom when paired with intentional, mindful movement and breath. This very much a process of self-discovery.

What are some values of WFY?

WFY: WFY is strongly committed to contributing back to our community. You’ll find us dedicating time for community impact activities, such as our Flow For Good Fundraiser Series for causes that we feel strongly about – women-related causes & the environment.

From day 1, the founding team was intentional in creating a purpose-driven foundation for WFY. Our initial social impact initiatives centered around community sessions, where anyone and everyone was invited to join our sessions at zero cost. Later, we decided to use our platform to reach out to members of our community, and share about causes we find meaningful. Since 2022, we’ve supported women-related non-profits such as Daughters of Tomorrow and Go With The Flow Singapore, and will continue to do so.

Share with us more about your upcoming fundraiser!

WFY: This 17 Mar 2024, Wild Fig Yoga will be hosting a Flow For Good Fundraiser Session to raise funds and awareness for local non-profit organisation, Go With The Flow Singapore (GWTF). GWTF is similarly run by a team of women seeking to bridge the period poverty gap in Singapore, and support access to menstrual healthcare for more than 500+ beneficiaries a month.

The Flow For Good Fundraiser works with both local partners, and participants to raise funds and in-kind donations for our selected beneficiaries. We’re very grateful for our partners’ support for the cause, and most definitely for The Sister Collective’s support in allowing for more to get to know about GWTF through our collaboration.

Today, as WFY enters our second year, we serve with gratitude to the community that has journeyed with us, and hope to be able to support causes in both tangible and intangible ways moving forward. From 2024, all of our social impact initiatives will fall under our Flow For Good umbrella, and we definitely hope to be able to serve our community as well as we can through these initiatives.
